Your guide to getting supplies for your summer BBQs in Bala. Oh, and other cool local shops!

We all know what it's like when you're in an unfamiliar place but you need to source everything required for your impromptu BBQ in the sunshine, so we've drawn on many years of experience barbecuing in Bala to bring you the most helpful tips to sourcing your treats while you're visiting. Oh, and we've thrown in some awesome extras which don't sell things to BBQ but do have cool and interesting things for you to look at!

Aran Hufen Ia

Aran Hufen Iâ is simply awesome. Not only is their ice cream sensational, they also have exquisite coffee, waffles and delicious vegan cakes for you to tuck in to - don't miss out!

T J Roberts & Sons Family Butchers

Established in 1873 this award winning butchers still sources the best beef, lamb and pork in the local area - perfect for your summer barbecues! Their delicious prepared kebabs, Dragon sausages and BBQ ribs come very highly recommended. Be careful though, you'll probably end up leaving with some paddling snacks for the next day on the river, because their award winning pork pies are completely irresistible!

Stori Beers

Opened in 2015, Stori has been hugely successful in bringing locally brewed beers and spirits to Bala. With an impressive range of delicious beers and ciders, they now sell brews from all over Wales and have a lovely Tap Room if you want to enjoy a drink whilst you're there. You're guaranteed a warm welcome and some handy advice to make sure you get the right beverage to go with your BBQ!

Pren

Pren is the place to be for beautifully unique, handmade wooden art or functional pieces for the home. Many pieces are made from locally sourced wood and use natural 'defects' in the grain to create unique focal points in the product. It's a feast for your eyes and well worth a gander while you're in the area.

The Glassblobbery is absolutely worth a visit if you're after locally made glassware, or for a look at the impressive art of glass blowing!
