Hoping to sharpen your white water skills? Here at Canolfan Tryweryn, the National White Water Centre, we offer a wide range of coaching courses, from introducing you to moving water to tackling advanced rapids. We also offer white water canoe options and rescue courses too.
Master the Tryweryn
A morning spent on the upper Tryweryn with tips and knowledge shared on how to get the most out of this fantastic section of whitewater.
Price: £60 (includes facility fee for the rest of the day)
Minimum age: 18 (please call to discuss booking for someone under 18)
Duration: Half-day course
Prerequisites: Grade 3 paddler, with a reliable roll.
Dates: 11th April 9am - 1pm
23rd May 9am - 1pm & 2pm - 6pm
Getting on Edge
Learn to use the river to your advantage and make every paddle stroke count.
Price: £60 (includes facility fee for the rest of the day)

Duration: Half-day course
Prerequisites: Grade 3 paddler, with a reliable roll.

Back to Basics
A deep dive back into the basic skills and techniques needed when paddling whitewater.

Prerequisites: Grade 3 paddler, with a reliable roll.

Youth Whitewater Coaching
A series of regular sessions for young people to develop their whitewater knowledge and skills in a supportive atmosphere amongst peers. We will cover a huge range of topics that will develop paddlers’ river running and playboating skills, along with safety and rescue, river reading and decision making. With the aim of young people being able to paddle independently and safely with a sustainable attitude to life on the river. All whilst having the most fun ever!

Prerequisites: Comfortable with grade 2
with some experience paddling grade 3.

Confidence on the Upper
Spend 2 days with an awesome coach, working on confidently moving your boat around on the upper. We'll start at the top on the grade 2/2+ stuff, then decide what we want to do next! This is great for people new to the Upper, or those who just want to grow their confidence on the bigger rapids.

Prerequisites: You should be reasonably happy on grade 2 and have some experience on grade 3.
Performance Paddling
This session looks at how to improve your fitness,ability and strength, needed to paddle Whitewater.

Tryweryn Freestyle
Come and join Matt (World Freestyle Champion) for a day of learning how to be upside down and round and round with a smile on your face!
Price: £150

Duration: 1 day
Prerequisites: You should have a roll that works most of the time in this environment and be confident surfing.
Confidence and independence at grade 2+(3)
Spend the day honing your grade 2 (3) skills with a view to developing your independence - this may be to become a more pro-active group member, or growing your confidence, skills and knowledge to start your peer paddling journey.

Prerequisites: You should be confident on grade 2 (happy to break in / out and ferry glide on grade 2 water)
Winter Paddling Prep
Are you super excited for winter paddling?! We'll spend two days preparing for the white water season: concentrating on safe and effective peer paddling and group awareness.

Prerequisites: You should have grade 3 experience & a roll that works 50% of the time in moving water.
Play The River
Matt (GB Freestyle) will show you the best play spots and have you throwing your boat around for fun in no time!
A great introduction to treating the river as a playground.

Prerequisites: You should have started to surf, and be happy breaking in & out and rolling reliably in this environment.
Alpine Prep
Off to the Alps? Here's a couple of days to prepare you for the bigger volume stuff.
We will help you to hone your alpine skills and give you some tips for building fitness working up to your big trip.

Prerequisites: You should have some grade 3 experience.
Group Paddle
Spend the morning in the company of our top local coaches who know the river like the back of their hand.

White Water Classics
North Wales has some of the best white water options in the UK. If water levels and group ability allow, rivers such as the Conwy, Ogwen, Glaslyn Gorge and Tryweryn are all possibilities for both days.
However, if the water doesn't arrive locally, we'll meet you in other regions with classic white water!
Price: £250 if local

Unlock the Lower for Canoe
This canoe weekend course covers all the key skills required to comfortably and reliably paddle the lower Tryweryn in your open canoe. This could be tandem or solo. Day one is spent on some simple grade water really refining the required skills to confidently descend the lower. Day two is a descent from the centre to Bala looking at the logistics and decision-making involved in paddling a canoe in this grade and above.

Prerequisites: comfortable and experienced in a canoe on grade two.
