Your Visit

The National White Water Centre is based on the banks of the River Tryweryn and is where your activity will begin. We've been running rafting trips on the Tryweryn since 1985 and the centre, built in 1995, is home to the facilities which will make your visit that bit more comfortable.

The riverside walk, café, picnic benches and toilets with baby changing facilities are all available for non-rafting members of your party while you’re out on the water.

Cool Pics is independently run by Gaele who is operational most days throughout the summer months. She specialises in action photos which are available on site for you to take home as a momento of your adventure on the river! Best attempts are made to catch a shot of every raft, but Cool Pics is a one woman operation so be sympathetic if Gaele misses you!

For special occasions, please contact our photographer to check she will be working when you visit us:

All prices for rafting include CEN safety approved helmets and buoyancy aids.
You are free to bring a long-legged wetsuit and footwear of your own, or you can hire a wetsuit with boots from our stores.
Regrettably, you cannot wear your own helmet and buoyancy aid due to centre safety regulations.
Quality equipment for your rafting activity in Bala

Parents must be reminded that the river is fast flowing and potentially dangerous. Close supervision of our younger visitors is essential. Children’s buoyancy aids are available to hire at reception for a small returnable deposit.

We pride ourselves on our policy of inclusion not exclusion, so if you would like to discuss your specific needs please feel free to contact the centre to discuss your requirements.
