Coached tickets
Tickets are £140 per person, with a reduced rate of £125pp for NGB members.
A small number of non-coached places are available for women paddlers that are wanting to join in the vibe. Simply arrange your own paddling during the day and join in the fun in the evenings. (CT facility fees, camping and Saturday dinner included.)
Tickets are £85, with a reduced rate of £75 for BC/SCA/CANI members and £65 for CW On The Water members.
Once you've booked, you'll be sent 2 forms - the usual consent form, plus a coaching info and request form. This will ask for some details of your experience and which sessions you'd prefer. This way we hope to match everyone with the right sessions.
Saturday options are listed below - there's also the option of a boat fitting session if there's enough demand.
We have been able to find mostly female coaches but alas there just aren’t enough of you out there (yet): which is part of our reason for running this event. There will therefore be a small number of specially selected male coaches running some of our sessions. Please let us know if a female coach would be essential to you taking part.
Sunday's paddling will be sorted on Saturday evening so no need to think about that yet!
(For those who would like to know however... Sunday will be similar to last year - sign up for laps, river running or practise, based on energy levels and confidence. (Examples are: fast and fun laps of the upper; working your way down slowly, taking your time, stopping to scout and chatting about the features; refining skills on grade 2 / 2+; a lower river trip).
This is a great, fun session, no experience needed.
If you're unfamiliar with the river, this could be a good morning session to show you the rapids and the lines for an afternoon session. If you're not yet paddling grade 3/3+, this could give you a taste of what you're yet to become addicted to! If a full day of coaching might be too much, this could be a chance to mix it up and reserve energy (it's still a blast and there's paddling to do but there are options for an easier ride and no carrying).
Is this for me? Suitable for all.
This session is aimed at those reasonably new to white water. We'll find the best spots for practising basic skills such as ferry gliding / breaking in and out. Gain confidence and experience whilst having fun!
Is this for me? Suitable for all.
The section above the graveyard goes by a number of names: Upper Graveyard, Graveyard Lead in Rapid etc.
It's a super rapid, there's so much to do on it - from just running it and getting that buzz, to starting to break it down by getting an eddy or 2, and then 8 or 9 (10+?!). This is a step up from the White Water Flow.
Is this for me? You need to be reasonably confident breaking in and out and have some confidence on grade 2.
I don’t know any paddlers who haven’t experienced this! Using land-based games and discussions to get the most out of our time on the water, we will look at processing the mental and physical impacts of feeling apprehensive, both before and after paddling a rapid.
Is this for me? Yes!
This is a full day option. The lower river is grade 2(3). There are lots of rapids, so tons of opportunities for developing skills at different levels: practising basci skills, tackling longer rapids, surfing, eddy hopping, catching those midstream eddies, having a go at leading, rock splatting and more.
Is this for me? You should be reasonably confident on grade 2 or a grade 2+/3 paddler wanting to really hone their skills.
It can be difficult practising your WW rescue skills. I find that, if I'm in a mixed group, there's usually someone quicker than me that races in, usually with more strength and I end up feeling like a spare part, or at best "I'll get the paddle!"
Is this for me? You should be reasonably comfortable swimming in white water. Ideally, you will already have attended a White Water Safety course as this session is about practising those skills.
Slalom is a great discipline and the skills are totally transferable.
Fancy giving it a go? No specialised equipment needed, just bring your usual white water boat and kit.
Is this for me? Suitable for grade 2+ to 3+ paddlers.
Ah, the ski slope: so steep, so intimidating, yet so exhilarating. So, don't you want to master it?
This is one of my favourite rapids - it gives you such a buzz!
Is this for me? Suitable for those with a bit of grade 3 experience.
Some go down the left, some go down the right.
Maybe you'd like to improve the one, or try the other.
Maybe there are other lines?!
It's got a lovely lead in rapid too. Lots to work on!
Is this for me? Suitable for those with grade 3 experience.
For many the Graveyard is one of the scariest features here. Let us help you to tame it! You'll look at breaking it down and making the most of the eddies.
Is this for me? You should be fairly confident on grade 3.
This session is aimed at those who have paddled the upper previously and want to improve. So more a general Upper T tune up!
Polish your skills and find the smoothest lines to refine your style.
Is this for me? You should be fairly confident on grade 3.
You're running the Upper T happily, but want to play more and really get the most out of the river?
Is this for me? You should be a confident grade 3 paddler with a roll that works most of the time in this environment.
Happy playing the river and ready to take your surfing to the next level? Let us show you some moves! You will need a roll that works most of the time in this environment.
Is this for me? You should be confident surfing and rolling in this environment.
